Child Walking Assessment

Worried About Your Child’s Walking? We’re Here to Help

As a parent, noticing issues like flat feet, in-toeing, instability, or toe walking in your child can be a source of concern. You may wonder if these patterns are a normal part of development or if they need intervention. At Limitless Orthotics, our Child Walking Assessments are designed to give you the answers and peace of mind you need.

Why Choose a Child Walking Assessment?

Our Child Walking Assessments are tailored to evaluate your child’s walking and standing patterns, identifying any underlying issues that may require attention. We provide expert guidance to help you understand whether your child’s gait is part of normal development or if intervention could benefit them.

Key features of our assessments include:

  • Comprehensive Evaluation

We assess walking patterns, posture, joint movements and overall foot and leg alignment.

  • Expert Advice

Our HCPC registered orthotists explain findings clearly and offer practical advice on whether treatment is necessary.

  • Reassurance for Parents

Gain confidence in your child’s development with a thorough, evidence-based assessment.

  • Onward referral

If we feel that further specialist opinion is required, we will write to your child’s GP.

What We Assess

During the appointment, we will examine:

  • Flat Feet: Is your child’s arch development normal, or is intervention required?

  • In-Toeing: Are your child’s feet turning inwards, and could this affect their balance or coordination?

  • Instability: Does your child struggle with clumsiness or frequent falls?

  • Toe Walking: Is this a phase or something that may need treatment?

  • Other Concerns: We address any specific questions or observations you may have.

Are you concerned about your child’s, looking for reassurance, and want expert advice within 2 weeks?

Why Acting Early Matters

Children’s walking patterns often improve naturally as they grow, but in some cases, early action can make a big difference. Identifying and addressing potential issues early can:

  • Reduce discomfort or pain your child may be experiencing.

  • Enhance their balance, coordination, and stamina.

  • Prevent more significant problems from developing in the future.

Acting early ensures your child gets the support they need to grow comfortably and confidently.

How it Works

1) Book an Appointment: Schedule a child walking assessment with us. During the session, your orthotist will observe your child’s gait, perform physical evaluations, and discuss any concerns you have.

2) Expert Evaluation: After the assessment, your orthotist will determine whether your child’s walking patterns are developing as expected or if further attention is needed.

3) Tailored Advice: Depending on the findings, your orthotist may provide practical advice, such as exercises or suitable footwear recommendations. If necessary, they might suggest orthotic treatment—such as prescription insoles—which would be charged separately. In some cases, the orthotist may recommend a referral to another specialist and will write to your child’s GP if needed.

4) Orthotic Supply: If an orthotic prescription is provided and payment is completed, the device will typically be supplied within two weeks.

“Alfie is coming along so well since we saw you. We can finally go on long family walks.”
